Hey, what's up?
I hope all is well with you.
You never really know what you’re capable of until you’re challenged and pushed to your limits. It’s only when you reach said limit do you realize limits are malleable and really only exist in your mind. When I was in gym class in elementary school, no one ever told me I could train to become as good as my classmates were in sports. I just thought being an athlete was something one was born with. In my mind, you either had it or didn’t. Because I thought didn’t have it, I never applied myself to get it.
Music was the same way for me. I was always ridiculed for my funny style of rapping and beat boxing whenever I shared my creations with friends. At one point, I didn’t think I was good enough to pursue it professionally so I didn’t try. Funny enough, music kept pulling me back not matter how much I tried to get away from it. Not having the natural talent my friends seemed to possess, the jokes about my uniqueness never stopped. Being tired of the ridicule, I kept making music but I stopped sharing it.
I’d heard the story of Charlie “Bird” Parker’s relentless practice and woodshedding approach that led him to become the Jazz legend he became. Inspired by “Bird’s” story I committed myself to becoming a great rapper.
Fast forward twenty years, I’m now a professional rapper with a very unique style and sound my own. Years of frustration and painful practice, struggle and patience have placed me, in my own mind, in a league of my own. My relentless pursuit of excellence has taken my to creative heights I never thought myself capable of, way beyond the self-imposed limits I’d placed on my self all those years ago. “Superposition” chronicles my journey from novice to professional rapper and my development both personally and artistically in the process.
Enjoy!
Logan.
